Personal Learning Networks

(PLN’s) are a collection of resources that you use to gather information. It’s a way of staying informed and connecting with others.

Most of us already have our own Personal Learning Networks, whether we use Facebook, Twitter, Blogger or ARIS, online tools help us keep current with what’s going on around us and around the world.

Aggregators are services which enable users to subscribe to “feeds,” allowing clients to create their own personal newspaper, or collection of favorite blogs, websites and news feeds. My favorite is Google Reader, but others use Bloglines, Netvibes or Pageflakes. These services are free and great way to stay updated in the digital age.

No need to use Bookmarks or Favorites anymore. Websites such as Delicious and Portaportal offer free services which allow users to “bookmark” their favorite websites. Just click on the URL and add to your collection

Dropbox

For FREE online storage, log onto Dropbox at http://www.dropbox.com.

Dropbox gives you 2GB of storage space which is great for backing up your documents and files. Dropbox eliminates the need for flash drives or external hard drives. You also have the ability to share files with other users on their secure servers.
